Process of giving the crown is same regardless of the material used,

  1. Tooth to be capped is prepared after removing the decayed and/or weak areas. The tooth if required is restored or build up with composites or core build up material.
  2. The tooth crown is then prepared by grinding all around to give proper shape that meets crown preparation design
  3. After preparation , impressions are made, and sent to lab for crown fabrication
  4. At the next appointment, the crown is cemented on the prepared tooth with the cementing material.

WHAT IS A BRIDGE?

Bridge is a prosthesis that replaces one or more missing natural teeth.
Bridge minimally consists of three units – two crowns one on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. The two anchoring teeth are called abutments and the false tooth in between is called pontic.

PROCEDURE

  1. In the first appointment, the teeth to be used as abutments are prepared and impressions are made
  2. metal frame is then fabricated on the working model in the lab
  3. in the second appointment, metal frame is checked in the patient mouth (metal trial)
  4. on this metal frame , final bridge is prepared in the lab
  5. in the third appointment, the bridge is cemented in the patient's mouth.
  6. The total treatment time is about 4 to 5 days.

How do I take care of my bridge?

With optimal oral hygiene and regular dental check up, bridge can last for many years.
